Scottish Ski Club Bursaries
in partnership with Alpine Training Centre SCIO
Following the success of our first year of bursary awards, we are delighted to announce that we are now inviting applications for SSC Bursaries for the 2022/2023 season. Our bursary and race camp programme is being run in partnership with Alpine Training Centre SCIO (formally ATC) is now a registered Charity, specifically set up to support young ski racers.
SSC Support
Throughout our history, the support of young racers has been an integral part of the club’s activities and many of our members have achieved great success with the benefit of that support. It is not a coincidence that a significant proportion of the British national and Olympic ski teams over the last 50 years have been SSC members. The objective is to enable young, deserving club members to improve their racing skills through attending Race Training Camps in Europe.
Due to the changing conditions and the expense of training, it is becoming increasingly difficult for our talented young skiers to finance their time on snow and, if this trend continues, it will inevitably lead to less racing activity and less success.
To help alleviate this, the newly created ATC Charity launched a new bursary initiative offering several bursaries, one of which is in partnership with and funded through the Scottish Ski Club. Donations to the SSC Bursary Fund are invited and can be made via our Just Giving page or by connecting the club President (details below).
2022/23 Bursaries
This seasons Bursaries will focus on providing young ski racers with pre season training in the Alps and winter training in Scotland. The following activities will receive support:
October Camp provides 2-weeks of pre-season glacier training (full residential). In addition to Bursary winners there will be a limited number of fee paying places available on this camp.
Scottish Cairngorm Camps at Christmas, February and April (training only)
In addition ATC / SSC will provide race support at key Alpine races (Pila, Bormio and Tignes) for selected Bursary athletes. Training only fees will apply for these camps.
